Best Rotary Attachment for Laser Engravers: Roller vs Chuck, Compatibility

A rotary turns round items (tumblers, glasses, bottles, pens, rings) under your laser so the design wraps around them in focus. It is the accessory that unlocks the drinkware market for most small shops. The right one depends on your laser’s brand and ports, then on the shapes you engrave.

Roller vs chuck in one table

Many current rotaries do both, with swappable modules. If you only sell one shape, a single-mode rotary can be simpler and cheaper.

Compatibility by laser model

This is the table we wish every maker published. It is built from the compatibility lists on each rotary’s product page and each laser maker’s support articles. “Listed” means the rotary maker names that laser; “Not listed” does not mean it can’t work, only that the maker does not promise it.

Sources: xTool’s RA2 Pro page lists the standard version as compatible with “F2 Ultra UV/P2/S1/F1 Ultra/F2/F1/F1 Lite/M1 Ultra/D1,” and the Deluxe version with “xTool All Laser Machines.” Sculpfun lists “S6/S6 Pro/S9/S10/S30 Series/S30 Ultra Series/SF-A9/S70/S40/V5 UV.” Creality’s Rotary Kit Pro page lists no model table.

Creality also has a newer RC2 Rotary Kit ($299), which it describes as “Compatible with all engravers, including Falcon A1C & Falcon T1,” with roller, chuck and tailstock modules and 0–180° angle adjustment. It was listed as “Available Soon” when we checked, without published diameter ranges, so we have not added it to our database.

Best researched rotary for xTool lasers: xTool RA2 Pro

Four modes (roller, chuck, sphere and ring) cover almost everything a personalization shop sells. xTool lists roller 3–198 mm, chuck 0–100 mm, sphere 25–100 mm and ring 11–70 mm. The advantage over third-party rotaries is integration: xTool publishes setup guides per machine (for example the F1 and P2/P2S), and the software knows the rotary. It listed at $269 on sale ($298.99 list) in September 2026. Inner-ring engraving needs an extra adjust module from the Deluxe kit, per xTool. On the P2S, plan on the riser base: without it, xTool says only items under 42 mm diameter fit.

Best researched roller + chuck for GRBL diode lasers: Sculpfun RA Pro Max

For LightBurn and LaserGRBL users with Sculpfun (or similar) diodes, the RA Pro Max combines a 5–198 mm roller with three jaw sets (sphere 4–130 mm, ring 10–102 mm), a 180° adjustable angle, and includes a tailstock, risers and a dual-wheel extension bracket. Sculpfun lists a max engraving speed of 6,000 mm/min. It listed at $209.99 on sale ($259.99 list). Sculpfun says to remove the roller before changing the chuck angle.

Best researched budget chuck for tapered tumblers: Creality Rotary Kit Pro

A preassembled adjustable-jaw chuck for items 1–130 mm in diameter, with one-handed clamping and anti-slip pads, per Creality. It was on pre-order at $109 (against a $189 list price) in September 2026; a bundle with risers was listed at $179.20. Creality’s page does not list max load, max length or compatible models, so confirm with Creality for your specific Falcon.

Setup gotchas

1. Height. The item plus the rotary must fit under the head at focus. Risers lift open-frame lasers; enclosed lasers may need a riser base or have hard limits.
2. Level the top line. Tapered cups need the narrow end raised so the engraving line runs parallel to the laser’s travel.
3. Diameter and steps. Enter the diameter (or circumference) exactly. Wrong values stretch or squash the wrap.
4. Handles. Mugs with handles limit how far you can rotate; plan designs to stop short of the handle.
5. Weight. Heavy bottles can slip on rollers. Use a chuck or a tailstock.
6. Galvo lasers mark in bands. The rotary indexes between bands; check that your galvo software supports it.

Rotaries on enclosed vs open-frame lasers

Where your laser is built affects which rotary setups are even possible:

• Open-frame diodes (Creality Falcon2, Sculpfun SF-A9) have no floor or lid, so risers can lift the whole frame as high as a big bottle needs. Sculpfun includes machine risers with the RA Pro Max, and Creality sells its Rotary Kit Pro in a bundle with risers. The trade-off is that the beam is open: glasses and extraction are on you.
• Enclosed diodes and CO2 lasers (xTool S1, P2S) have a fixed box. Height is limited by the lid, a riser base, or a removable floor. xTool’s P2/P2S guide, for example, requires removing the slats and adding the riser base for anything over 42 mm in diameter.
• Galvo lasers (xTool F-series, fiber markers) need the item to sit at the lens’s working distance. Motorized lifts help; check the maximum material height against your tallest item plus the rotary.
